THE CHALLENGE

The San Diego Latino Film Festival is one of the largest showcases of Latinx cinema in the U.S., celebrating films, filmmakers, and stories from across Latin America and the diaspora. In a moment shaped by shifting narratives around immigration and identity, representing Latinx voices carries real cultural weight. The challenge was to create a visual identity that could hold both celebration, responsibility, and artistry.

DESIGN SOLUTION

The visual system draws from Indigenous Latin American weaving practices where pattern, repetition, and interlacing threads carry important symbolism. This idea is translated into a bitmap form with layered structures, representing the balance between craft and an evolving technological landscape. It balances expression with clarity and is designed to flex across digital and experiential assets.

WHAT I DID

I concepted and designed the poster, then built out the full visual system. I enjoyed designing this project so much I scaled my original asset and built out a whole identity.
